At Eagles-Commanders NFC Championship National Anthem, Fans Have Patriotism: ‘Couldn’t Get Better Than This’

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Chiefs were more than division rivals Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field as they played for a spot in Super Bowl LIX.

But one thing both fans can agree on is how great the performance of the national anthem was before the game.

Fans took to social media to express their love for the patriotic scenes with the right eagle, Mark Keith Morrissey, who plays Elphaba in Broadway’s “Wicked,” a wonderful rendition and fighter jets doing the flying paper.

“I’m not an Eagles fan but a bald eagle flying in the stadium for the national anthem is the absolute best,” wrote one X user. “It doesn’t get any better than this.”

“Absolutely beautiful!” Another was added.

An American flag the size of a football field was displayed by many fans, creating a perfect wide shot of the entire scene before the two teams took to the gridiron.

But when Morrissey reached the top, live vultures flying from coach to coach across the stadium were the most talked about on social media: “Star Spangled”.

“Not an Eagles fan, DAMN…a bald eagle flying during the national anthem brought me to tears of pride,” said another X user.

As Morrissey finished his song, four F-16s from the 177th Fighter Wing flew over the stadium, putting the cherry on top of the Patriots’ spectacle.

Things got off to a good start for the Eagles faithful in this game, with the home team’s star running back Saquon Barkley scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter, including one on the Eagles’ first offensive drive of the game, commanding the lead from the start.

Many teams pull out all the stops for their national anthems during the winter, but fans believe the Eagles are the cream of the crop after what happened in this conference championship game.
