Adam Griffiths has been handed a big role in Cricket Australia, set to oversee the pace of the future.
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach Adam Griffith has been appointed as Cricket Australia’s new pace bowling coach. The former Tasmanian cricketer will work closely with the upcoming fast bowlers in the men’s team and his role will be crucial in shaping the Australian national cricket team.
After stepping down from his assistant coaching position with Victoria, Griffith will move to Brisbane to begin his new role at Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Centre. He has previously worked with the Australian men’s team on bilateral tours in 2012 and 2016 and the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.

Australian coach Andrew McDonald is delighted to have appointed Adam Griffith as the national pace bowling coach. He said Griffith’s wealth of experience and knowledge will be crucial in developing pace bowlers for the Australian men’s team across all formats.
McDonald said in a statement: “I am delighted that Adam will bring his extensive experience to Cricket Australia as the National Paces Bowling Coach and become an important part of our coaching programme.
“Adam’s knowledge of all formats will be invaluable in developing pace bowlers for the Australian national men’s teams.
The Australian cricket team will be seen playing against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the upcoming two-match Test series. Australia have already qualified for the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025, with South Africa to be played from June 11 to 15 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Adam Griffiths has served as the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Adam Griffiths’ duties include leading the development of fast bowlers, overseeing national pace bowling events and providing coaching support to the Australian men’s team and Australia A.
Griffiths, a former Sheffield Shield winner for Tasmania, has 169 wickets from 50 first-class matches. In the year After retiring in 2011, Adam Griffiths gained extensive coaching experience, starting with Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers.
He later returned to Tasmania as head coach of the Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes and became the state’s director of coaching. Griffiths joined the Victorian men’s team under Chris Rogers in 2022. He worked as a bowling coach before settling on the franchise’s staff.
Australia’s pace bowling line-up in transition
Australia’s pace bowling line-up is going through a transition period. Key players like Mitchell Starc (34), Josh Hazlewood (34) and Pat Cummins (31) are in the final stages of their careers while Scott Boland and Michael Nesser are 35 and 34 respectively.
Among those on the fringes of the Test team and white-ball teams are Nathan Ellis, 30, Jay Richardson and Riley Meredith, 28, and left-arm spinner Spencer Johnson, 29. Lance Morris and Xavier Bartlett are both 26. Sean Abbott is 32 and young star Fergus O’Neill is 24 from Victoria.
Pace bowling all-rounder Cameron Green and Victorian Will Sutherland are both 25, while Jack Edwards from New South Wales is 24.
