A group in Chicago continues to hold our children back from a brighter future.

They say our children are our future and I believe it. I fought to break up violent gangs in my neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago to get the kids out of their hands. I fought so that our children would have enough to eat so that hunger would not consume their upbringing. I have fought to give our children more value in life than material things: believing in God, honoring their parents and believing in themselves.
However, I found that most of my efforts to get these kids to the top were constantly undermined by one force in our city: the Chicago Teachers Union.
We’ve known for a long time that too many of our Chicago schools are failing her kids, especially kids in my neighborhood. We have also had a great year exposing the corruption, incompetence and flaws in DEI policies that have bedeviled education for the past several years.
The Chicago Teachers Union has destroyed a newspaper calling for its members to go on strike.
Yet the Union shows no sign of slowing down its destructive path that leaves our children at the bottom of the barrel. According to Wirepoints, only 29 out of 100 Chicago students can read at grade level. Only 18% of all students are proficient in mathematics.
These numbers are even worse for people in my neighborhood. Our schools are pushing these children from grade to grade without asking for any academic excellence. You’re screwing these kids up.
Again, according to Wirepoints, 81 percent of these students graduated! How is this possible? Where is the morality here? Who is benefiting from this lie?
Lies beget more lies. 93 percent of Chicago’s teachers are rated “excellent or excellent.” Seventy percent of the schools were rated “exemplary” or “commendable.”
The single biggest beneficiary of these lies is the Chicago Teachers Union. The damage they inflicted on our most vulnerable population will reverberate for years to come – today we are witnessing the impact of a gang of illegal youth roaming the streets looking for trouble.
Where is their moral conscience? The failure of the schools is well documented but the only concern of the union leaders is to consolidate their own power. They take no responsibility or accountability for their powerful powers – their own selfish power is their primary concern, not the children.
Chicago Public Schools Suffering from ‘Chronic Absence’ of Teachers, Union Demands Higher Pay: Report
I recently experienced a A quote from the union on X sums up his attitude to his critics like me: “They want us to think that the problem is the teachers, but that’s always their message. We know that the only thing that’s made progress in our schools is gunfire. The Chicago Teachers Union is the only thing that’s made progress in the schools in my community.” We know it’s a combination of students, teachers, staff and parents.
Remember lies beget lies. What “improvement in schools” are you talking about? And what is this talk about the “armed Chicago Teachers Union” bringing “progress”?
Their fight is corruption.

theirs Posted on X It says: “This is what unity looks like! From powerful speeches to unwavering energy, our march demonstrated the strength of teachers and partners united for justice. We are building hope for our students, schools and communities.”
“We need leadership in Chicago Public Schools that wants to protect us from tyranny and Trump and his troops,” the accompanying video reads. Last time I checked, Trump didn’t cut these kids’ education, but let’s go ahead and point the finger at a big bad orange and distract from the union’s terrible record.
In the past, the association continues to be responsible. Lack of money – Yet another lie was born. Specifically, the union is accusing the city of not properly supporting all schools. But according to Wirepoints, we’ll spend more per child than ever before: $29,160 in 2024, up from $20,979 in 2019.

Funding is not a problem. It is the union. And I hate to say it, but so are the teachers. They say their hands are tied but after years of hearing that I have to put the hard fact that we are losing our children front and center – that’s my issue.
The Chicago Teachers Union does not have the best interests of our youth at heart, and if we want a better America, we need to recognize that. Above all, the quality of today’s youth determines the quality of the future.
