A coveted rookie card from an MLB team, Pirates star Paul Skeens, was snapped up by a young collector.
A one-of-a-kind MBB first-order patch card featuring Pittsburgh Pirates Peter Paul Skeens is no longer available.
An 11-year-old collector from Southern California decided to pull the card, which appeared in the 2024 Topps Chrome Update set.
The 2024 National League Rookie of the Year drew a lot of interest when the trading card and collectibles manufacturer announced it in November.
Soon after the card became public knowledge, pirates were vocal about acquiring it.

While any Skenes autograph card carries a certain value, the MLB First Edition is a one-of-a-kind collectible, making it highly desirable.
Pirates offered a long package of benefits in exchange for the card. Three years of premium Pirates season tickets, a meet and greet with Skeens and an autographed jersey were among the gifts from the team.
Despite recent events, the Pirates confirmed that the team is ready to honor the offer.

“An 11-year-old collector just pulled a Paul Skeens 1/1 Primer Patch Card! Our offer is still on… you know where to find it.” Pirates posted On X Tuesday.
LSU gymnast Livvy Dunn, who matches Skeens, added another incentive for anyone looking for the card.
“Let’s raise the stakes…Whoever gets this card can sit in my suit with me at a Pirates game.” Dunn wrote Posted on her Instagram story
Skenes, 22, had a season to remember in 2024, finishing 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts.
Before winning NL Rookie of the Year, Skenes was named to the MLB All-Star team. Skenes was the top pick in the 2023 MLB draft and made his big league debut in May.
Starting in 2023, rookies have worn MLB primary patches on their jerseys.

In November, Sports Collectors Digest estimated that the card could command a six-figure price tag.
