Teofimo Lopez has hinted at X that he is Ryan Garcia’s next opponent for his fight in May.

Turki Al-Sheikh posted a picture of Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) signing the contract on social media today, writing, “The deal is done. The opponent is ready,” Teofimo responded to the post.Let the game begin.

Times Square Tune-up

WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo will be Garcia’s opponent in the rumored rematch in New York’s Times Square. Honey will also be on the card. One of the options being considered for the hot fight is former unified 140-pound champion Jose Ramirez.

Fighting Theo is a crazy move on Ryan’s part because he’s a better fighter than Hani and is more dangerous because of his power. Lopez has only lost once to George Cambossos Jr., and hasn’t shown issues with his chin. They should consider Teofimon as a more formidable challenge for Garcia than Hani.

Is this wrong for Garcia?

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Ryan loses to Lopez because he’s not the type of opponent to throw a lot of punches or hit as hard as he did in his recent win over Hani on April 20th.

Teofimo was at the Ring Awards in London last Saturday, looking like one of the movie’s sunglasses-wearing nocturnal mutants. ‘The Omega Man’ He looked grim and out of place as he looked at the prize. Theo looks good to me, but Plague looks like a mutant.

Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya said last Saturday that Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) wants Ryan next, not Devin Haney. Ryan is still set to fight Devin in a rematch in October. This is part of the three-fight deal Garcia offered to the Turk. De La Hoya feels Ryan fighting Hani again is a waste of time, but Turki obviously feels differently.
