Flick’s appointment comes at a time when Kennedy allies say they may push an agenda that doesn’t entirely align with Trump’s world but centers on Kennedy’s priorities, Politico reported.

A potential H.H.S. The secretary has recently been taking meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to drum up support. Kennedy’s critics have questioned his ability to deal with major crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and have pointed out that Kennedy pushes conspiracy theories about things like vaccines and anti-depressants. Meanwhile, business leaders say there is reason to be concerned about Kennedy’s past claims about the dangers of food additives, pesticides and vaccines.

Flick will be responsible for helping Kennedy clear up some of these criticisms. A former Food and Drug Administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to speak with Politico, told Politico that H.H.S. Depending on how involved writers are in the agency’s work, their chief of staff may be “too involved.”
