Suspended NBA player texted gamblers about game status.
Jontay Porter has been banned for life from the NBA, becoming the sixth person caught in the betting scheme.
Porter, who is facing criminal charges himself, was suspended from the NBA after it was revealed that he bet on the NBA and was involved in a scheme where conspirators profited from the information he provided.
Court documents revealed this week that Porter sent text messages to people involved in the scheme, one of which said he was betting on “underwhelming” ideas that revolved around “big numbers”.

“He doesn’t steal any blocks. First I play 2-3 minutes off the bench, then when I get out of bed he kills my eye again,” Porter reportedly wrote in a text message. Shane Henn.The latest man was arrested on January 26 before a Toronto Raptors game.
Heenen was arrested at the Las Vegas airport on Sunday before boarding a one-way flight to Colombia.
“I went back to the locker room to get my eyes checked,” Porter said in early January. “If Emma plays me a lot, I won’t start the second half. But if it’s garbage time, I’ll take a million shots.”

In July, Porter said in court that he agreed to withdraw from games early to get out of huge gambling debts, allowing him and his co-conspirators to win bets on the performance.

“I know what I did was wrong, it was illegal and I’m very sorry,” he said.
Porter was banned for life on April 17 after an investigation found he violated league rules by disclosing confidential information to sports buyers and betting on games. The NBA prohibits players from betting on the league or any of its properties.
The NBA said Porter placed “at least 13 affiliate betting accounts on NBA games” between January and March of this year when he was with the Raptors or his G League team, the Raptors 905.
Porter’s attorney, Jeff Jensen, said in June that Porter was “in over his head with his gambling addiction” but was receiving treatment and cooperating with law enforcement.
