The CEO explained that he plans to bring a home-to-airport air taxi service in collaboration with Joby Aviation and Fully Electric Vertical Aircraft (Evitol).

“They (Joby) have passed all the verification procedures,” he said. “By the way, the FAA has been a big supporter of bringing that mobility service to the skies because they understand that the issue is on the ground and the congestion there, so they’ve been very impressed with our ability to work with Jobi. I think they’re the technology leader in the space.”

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the airline partnered with Jobbi Aviation to introduce Sky Taxis “in the next couple of years.” (“Provided by Joby Aviation. (c) Joby Aero, Inc.”)

“We are engaged in a multi-year test program with the FAA to validate our vehicle for commercial operations and have completed the first three of five phases,” Joby said. Aerospace company website.

A December 2024 press release highlighted the latest milestone in the air taxi certification process with the FAA representative completing the airframe testing.

He also detailed how the air taxis work and reduce travel time.

“Where you live in New York, from Westchester County, landing at JFK[John F. Kennedy International Airport]you can pick up Joby,” he said. “How long is it on the road?, maybe two hours… you can do it in 15 minutes and be right at the Delta SkyMiles Club, and then your next stop is… (in) your plane.”

“It’s all worth it,” suggested Bastian in conclusion.
