Elon Musk calls for Germany to ‘get out of Nazi destruction’ at far-right rally – The National
Tech billionaire Elon Musk made a dramatic appearance at the Alternative for Germany campaign event in Halle, eastern Germany, on Saturday as thousands gathered to show their support for the far-right party.
Speaking to an audience of 4,500 people alongside party leader Alice Weidel, Musk spoke about preserving German culture and protecting the German people.
In support of the far-right party, Musk said: “I am very happy with the AfD, I think you are a very good hope for Germany.” I think the most important thing is for people to be proud of Germany and being German. This is very important. It’s okay to be proud to be German. This is a very important principle.
“It’s good to be proud of German culture, German values, and it’s good not to lose that in a multicultural system that destroys everything,” Musk told the audience.
Last week, Musk caused a stir after he made a Nazi-like straight arm during his inauguration speech for US President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, he said, “Children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents, let alone their parents, their ancestors,” apparently referring to Germany’s Nazi history.

Musk told the crowd to be “optimistic” and “enthusiastic” about Germany’s future, adding: “I hope your people will be united and firmly support AfD.
“Let’s go guys! let go! Fight for Germany’s great future, go, go, go! Convince your friends. Convince everyone,” Musk said as the crowd clapped and cheered.
I think the election in Germany is incredibly important. “I think it could decide the fate of the whole of Europe, maybe the fate of the world,” added Musk. “That is the significance of this election. That is why it is so important to talk to your friends and family and convince them to vote for the AfD. And then go with it like a chain reaction. Convince one friend and talk to another friend.
Germany is set to vote in an early election on February 23 after the collapse of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s three-party leadership coalition in November 2024.
The Tesla CEO, who spoke out about the suppression of speech by the German government on Saturday, has previously attacked Scholes on X.
Scholes said last Tuesday that he does not support freedom of speech when applied to far-right views.
We have freedom of speech in Europe and Germany. Everyone can say whatever they want, even if they are billionaires. And what we don’t accept is if it’s advocating an extreme-right position,” Scholes said when asked about Musk’s gesture during Trump’s inauguration celebrations in Davos.
Musk dismissed the criticism as a “tired” attack. “Shame on the Off Sheets,” Mask Posted on X In a video clip shared by another user, Scholes was speaking at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in a Swiss resort last Tuesday.
Musk wrote a guest opinion piece for Welt am Sonntag – a sister publication of Politico owned by Axel Spring Group – published in Germany in December 2024.
“Alternative for Germany (AfD) is the last glimmer of hope for this country,” Musk wrote in the translated commentary.
The world’s richest man went on to say that the far-right party “can lead the country into a future where economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation are not just dreams, but realities.”
Muck also wrote that his investment in Germany gave him the right to comment on the state of the country.
