Small gas station chain Buc-ee sued for copyright, arguing that its cartoon dog logo was too similar to a beaver.
Buc-ee has filed a lawsuit against the small Texas-based gas station chain for copyright infringement, claiming that the SuperFuels logo is too similar to the Buc-ee logo.
The lawsuit filed by Busey in U.S. District Court alleges that SuperFuels’ cartoon dog is too similar to Busey’s cartoon beaver on the cap logo, Fox 4 reported.
In its lawsuit, Texas-based Book-Ez said the Super Fool logo primarily “depicts an anthropomorphic, cartoonish image of a smiling animal resembling a beaver.” It is depicted in front of a circular background.”

Book-Iz notes that the two logos have the same expression and color.
The popular convenience store chain contends in the lawsuit that the logos could confuse customers and that the confusion caused Buc-ee’s to lose sales.
BUC-EE opened its largest store of 75,000 square feet with 120 gas pumps.

The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction to prevent Superfools from using the dog logo, for Superfools to pay Buc-ee any “unearned profits” and for the destruction of all signs, packages and other materials bearing the dog logo.
