Gujarat’s Arya Desai takes 9 wickets in an innings against Uttarakhand
Gujarat bowler Arya Dese has produced a magical effort with the ball in the ongoing match against Uttarakhand. The Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match between the teams is being played at the Gujarat College Grounds in Ahmedabad, which started on Thursday (January 23).
Uttarakhand won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the decision was very strange for them. This was because Gujarat’s bowler Arya Desse was on top of all the batting and made a mockery of the opposition with his impressive spin bowling.
Aarya Desai didn’t take long to make an impact, picking three wickets in the 5th over of the innings.
Desai took the new ball for his team and proved that it didn’t take long. In the 5th over, Priyanshu removed Khanduri and sent Uttarakhand skipper Samarat R packing for the golden duck. Similarly, he removed Yuvraj Chaudhary to take the team to a bright start.
Desai then made his next impact when he caught Kunal Chandela lbw in the 11th over. The right-arm spinner then removed Mayank Mishra before sending Avensha Sudhan packing for 30 runs. The opening batsman smashed 30 runs and held one end for the team with the bat.
Desai then quickly wrapped up the tail after catching Aditya Thare lbw. He removed Abhay Negi and Deepek Dapola to take nine wickets in one innings. His magical effort with the ball saw Gujarat bundle out the Uttarakhand team for just 111 runs in 30 overs.
Aarya Desai scored 39 runs and took 9 wickets
The 21-year-old Desai spun the web around the Uttarakhand batsmen. He bowled 15 overs in his spell and also took 5 maiden wickets. He also gave away 39 runs and took 9 wickets, keeping the team on top from the start. His economy of 2.40 was the highlight of his bowling.
For Uttarakhand, Shashwat Dangwal was the team’s top run-getter with an unbeaten innings of 35 off 49 balls. He hit one 5 fours and one six during his knock and helped his team cross the 100-run total, which once seemed impossible.
Arya Desai went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
While impressive with the ball, Arya Desai has not had a good outing with the bat. He opened the innings for the team and scored only 6 runs off 8 balls. He was caught lbw by Mayank Mishra as he hit just one boundary in the visitors’ innings before taking a long walk to the pavilion.
Arya Desai went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. But with his form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, he will surely be on the radar of some big teams, especially with some injuries expected in the corner area.
