Former Australian national cricket team player Brad Hogg has spoken about the issues surrounding Kohli, especially after he was dropped in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that off-field commitments are also the reason for his poor performance.

Indian national cricket team batsman Virat Kohli has been struggling to get going with the bat in Test cricket. His premiership batting average is below par, and his place in the team has also come under the scanner, with many calling for him to be dropped.

Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Virat Kohli appeared to be in shock with the bat, conceding just 190 runs. He hit a century in the first match and it looked like he would set the stage on fire, but it was not like that, as he failed miserably in the other 4 matches.

Kohli goes outside off to balls. In the series, he averaged 23.75. Overall in the last 10 Tests, the Indian National Cricket Team batsmen have scored 392 runs in the last 10 Tests at an average of 23.05 which is below par.

He has other duties off the field that he has not had while dominating all three formats around the world – Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg, speaking about Kohli’s struggles, said he has other commitments now, which he didn’t have when he was younger. “The off-field drama is keeping me from doing well at the moment,” he said. He said this in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

“And then all of a sudden, now he’s got a family. He’s got other responsibilities off the field that he didn’t have when he was managing all three formats around the world. So, it’s not just about cricket, it’s what’s happening. Off the field as well.”

“I think Virat Kohli’s off-field drama is off-field. I think maybe he has too much on his plate that has kept him from performing well at the moment.”

There is a lot of pressure on him – Brad Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg added that the amount of cricket Kohli plays also has an effect on his performance. After the grueling international cricket, he suggested that he should play IPL for RCB as well. He explained.

“I think the amount of cricket played these days is more because you’re trying and playing as much as you can for India in all three formats. And then you get the IPL and it’s extended for a week or two. Well.”

“So, there is a lot of pressure there because the owners are spending big money on players in the IPL. Virat Kohli is the best player in RCB. So, there is a lot of pressure on him.”
