WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump will address the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, his first major address to global business and political leaders.

According to the meeting schedule, Trump is scheduled to give a speech and hold talks at 11 a.m. Eastern (1600 GMT). It is not clear what will be discussed.

Trump’s nationalism has been on full display since taking office on Monday.

The newly inaugurated president has moved quickly to curb immigration, expand domestic energy production and threaten to impose steep tariffs on the European Union, China, Mexico and Canada.

Trump has withdrawn the United States from the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement. He said he would rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, although other countries did not accept the new name. He also threatened to take the Panama Canal back from Panama.

On January 6, 2021, more than 1,500 supporters who attacked the US Capitol risked their lives in a failed attempt to reverse his defeat in the 2020 election. Excerpts and the police are frustrated.

Trump is moving to dismantle diversity programs in the US government, and the private sector is pushing to do the same. That has some workplace practices in Davos looking for new words they say are essential to their businesses.
