‘Abhi Ashner Hota Toh…’: Anupam Mittal ‘Bap Kaun Hai’ for Ritesh Agarwal on Shark Tank India 4 irks networks
Shaadi.com founder and investor Anupam Mittal grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons. In the recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, the entrepreneurial tycoon faced a heated argument with fellow judge and OYO Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal.
At the time of the brand’s sneakin’ peak of luxury goods, some ‘sharks’ were making fun of Mittal’s age, but Agarwal’s similar comment infuriated Mittal. He compares the brand’s business to the diagnosis, something Sugar Cosmetics founder Vineta Singh finds strange.
Anupam laughs on hearing Ritesh’s explanation and says “Aap bimaar jooton ki labatory banayenge”. The founder of OYO Rooms says we treat people who are around 60 years old as sharks. Later, Anupam asked, “Come on, who’s your father?” it has.
Needless to say, Anupam Mittal’s comments infuriated Reddit users who compared Mittal to Ashner Grover, who is known for making snide comments on the show.
“Abi ashner hota toh answer anupam ko,” wrote one user.
Another user wrote, “Vapas aa jao bully ashneer.”
“I don’t know why but after Anupam Ashner left he took responsibility for being rude…after all this he thinks he looks good but then he is losing his fans and his originality…I feel so bad for Retsh Man..such a pure soul everyone is different in different ways or He mocks him otherwise and this idiot Anupam,” said a fourth user.
“Anupam has apparently taken responsibility for the trp,” the Redditor noted.
Back on the pitch, the founding couple Sahil and Arunima have sought funding of $90 lakh to acquire a 3 percent stake in their company, taking the price to ₹30 crore. They also mentioned that there was a gap in the market due to the lack of options to repair, mend and refurbish expensive shoes and bags.
Despite Anupam’s attack, Ritesh offered the founders ₹ 45 lakh for 5 percent equity and the remaining ₹ 45 lakh for 10 percent debt. Vineetha and Anupam joined hands and offered ₹90 lakh in exchange of 10 per cent equity with 1 per cent royalty.
Kunal Bahl, founder of Titan Capital, says that when someone asks for royalties, asking them is like valuing your company at zero. But the founders made an agreement with Anupam Mittal for 90 lakhs for 6.5% equity.
