4, 4, 6, 4, 4! Sanju Samson destroys Gus Atkinson in 1st T20I at Eden Gardens.
Sanju Samson came out all guns blazing with the bat in the first T20I between India and England at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday (January 22).
Bowling first, India put up a brilliant performance as they beat England by a total of 132 runs. Asked to bat first, England got off to a terrible start, losing two wickets in three overs. Arshdeep Singh hit Phil Salt in the first over to send him back for a three-ball duck in the first over.
In the third over, the left-arm pacer struck again to send Ben Duckett back and reduce England to 17 for 2. England captain Jos Buttler then hit several boundaries to give the innings a much-needed boost. He and Harry Brook shared 48 runs for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed by Varun Chakravarty in the 8th over.
At the same time, the Indian spinner dismissed Liam Livingstone for a duck to leave England with 4 for 65. After that, England continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for 132 runs.

By the end of the 10th over, they were at 74 for 4 and looking for their destiny to post a 150-plus total. But the Indian bowlers did well to restrict England to just 132 runs. Buttler was the top scorer for the visitors, scoring 68 off 44 balls.
No other England batsman could reach the 20-run mark. For India, Chakraborty took 3 wickets while Arshdeep, Hardik Pandey and Axar Patel took two wickets each.
Sanju Samson takes Gus Atkinson to the cleaners:
After the bowler’s brilliant performance, it was the batsmen’s turn to deliver and Sanju Samson did not disappoint. The in-form batsman, who has hit three centuries in his last 5 T20I innings, started with a bang as he took Gus Atkinson to the cleaners.
He started the innings with 5 straight dot balls first bowled by Jofra Archer before taking a single off the last ball. And in the second, Sanju Samson was in good form playing against Atkinson. He hit Pacer for four fours and a six in the over to collect 22 runs.

Atkinson looked absolutely deflated after the last period and couldn’t get another jam on the power play. Talking about the game, India were at 93/2 in the 9th over at the time of this report.
