LONDON (Reuters) – Prince Harry has filed a lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN) over illegal data collection, his lawyer said on Wednesday.

After Harry’s lawyer NGN agreed to pay huge damages and claimed that Harry, the youngest son of Britain’s King Charles, was the victim of illegal activity by the Sun and suffered phone hacking at the hands of The News. the world.

Harry and former senior lawyer Tom Watson were both claimants in the case.

Below is the text of NGN’s apology to the claimants.

“The NGN has made a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for The Sun’s serious intrusions into his private life between 1996 and 2011, including illegal activities by private investigators working for The Sun.”

NGN also issued a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex’s phone hacking, surveillance and misuse of personal data by journalists and private investigators at the behest of World News.

NGN also apologized to the Duke for the extensive coverage and heavy interference in his personal life, as well as the influence of Diana, Princess of Wales, his late mother, especially on his young age.

We acknowledge and apologize for the inconvenience caused to Duke and the damage to relationships, friendships and family and agree to pay substantial damages.

The NGN’s response to the 2006 arrests and crackdowns was admittedly deplorable without any evidence of illegality.

NGN has issued a full and unequivocal apology to Lord Watson for the unauthorized intrusion into his private life during the 2009-2011 News of the World government.

This includes the 2009 surveillance of journalists at the newspaper and what was ordered by them. NGN also acknowledged and apologized for the negative impact this had on Lord Watson’s family and agreed to pay substantial damages.

Additionally, in 2011 News International received information that information was being secretly passed from within News International to Lord Watson. We now understand that this information is false, and that Lord Watson has not received such confidential information. NGN apologizes fully and unequivocally for this.
