JD Vance mocks Biden’s 28th Amendment ad with Pete Rose Hall of Fame comparison.
President Biden’s recent declaration that the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is now the “law of the land” drew ridicule from his last term in office. Biden isn’t even safe from Vice President-elect JD Vance’s insults.
Vance responded to Biden’s statement on X, joking that Biden should put much-maligned MLB icon Pete Rose in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
“Hey Joe if we’re doing fake s— can you announce Pete Rose to the Hall of Fame on the way out?” Vance wrote. “See you in two days!”
Rose, who died in September, was suspended from MLB for illegally betting on games.

Rose signed an agreement with commissioner Bart Giamatti declaring him ineligible for baseball, but allowed him to petition for reinstatement and stay away from regular publicity about his betting on baseball. Over the past few decades, Rose has made several unsuccessful appeals for reinstatement.
As a player, Rose won three World Series titles, two with the Reds and one with the Phillies, made 17 All-Star appearances and won the 1973 NL MVP. He still has the most hits in MLB history at 4,256.

Yet, his betting scandal has made him one of the most controversial Hall of Famers since his retirement. His absence from the Hall of Fame is one of the most debated controversies in sports.
So Vance had no qualms about referencing Rose’s famous Hall of Fame controversy to poke fun at the president.
Citing the American Bar Association in the statement, Biden argued that the ERA “clears all necessary hurdles to be formally added to the Constitution.” Biden added. “The Equal Rights Amendment has become part of our Constitution,” he agreed with the ABA and prominent constitutional scholars. However, despite Biden’s argument, the National Archives disagrees.

ERA, an amendment to the Constitution that guarantees “equal rights under the laws” to all Americans regardless of sex. The latest iteration was a quick response by New York Democrats to the Supreme Court’s June 2022 decision in Dobbs and Jackson Women’s Health.
